URBAN EDGE PROPERTIES ROLLS OUT MALLCOMM PLATFORM ACROSS 57 SHOPPING CENTERS

Urban Edge Properties, a real estate investment trust, has partnered with Mallcomm to deliver a digital platform aimed at streamlining communication, security and management across 57 shopping centers in America.

The technology will provide 1,000 retailers with instant alerts and emergency information in the event of a crisis or major incident. Accessed via a smartphone app, the platform will also centralize communication and information relating to operational processes. This will help to streamline property management, and allow tenants to fast-track maintenance requests and receive real-time updates.

Joseph DeGiorgio, VP Asset Management at Urban Edge Properties said: “We acquired a shopping center already using Mallcomm and it was clear that the technology could add value to our wider portfolio.

“Each of our property managers is responsible for multiple shopping centers, so they handle information and requests from many different sources and use a variety of tools. Bringing these processes and communications into a central platform will boost productivity for our management teams while creating a safer and more efficient environment for our tenants and their customers.

“Tenants will be better connected and informed with key information at their fingertips. This will enable them to stay current with relevant updates, developments or issues at their site and connect directly with our management teams.”

There are more than 325,000 users of the Mallcomm platform internationally, across more than 650 properties spanning 400 million square feet of global real estate. The information gathered using the technology can inform property management strategies, helping to boost productivity and provide cost savings.

Randall McKillop, EVP Americas at Mallcomm, added: “This is the first stage of a wider solution which will help Urban Edge Properties to stay one step ahead of the retail sector’s rapid pace of change.

“Our partnership will play a crucial role in reducing time and costs for property managers, eliminating the need for different forms of communication and paperwork. A further benefit is that any data collated via the app, can be used to help guide future decisions around how its retail properties are managed.”

Branded Urban Edge Connect, the platform will be in place at all 57 shopping centers by Q2 2022.

Mallcomm’s partnership with Urban Edge Properties follows a recent collaboration between the tech provider and ShopCore Properties in the U.S, which will deliver a customized digital tenant-engagement platform across 50 retail centers in 15 states.
